“Alternative Concepts for Individuals with ASD– A Speaker Panel Event”  - April 2011

 

Perfect Fit Canines presented "A Service Dog, Completing the Puzzle of Autism" which discussed how a service dog is a valuable tool when helping an individual with autism.  Sebastian, one of the goodwill canine ambassadors, accompanied Susan and Jim Wagner, founders of Perfect Fit Canines, a non-profit organization located in Southwestern Pennsylvania .  

Dr. Tony Manes discussed the relationship between chiropractics and autism.  Dr. Tony is the owner and clinic director of Complete Chiropractic Health located on Rochester Road in Cranberry Twp.  

Christine Doolittle presented “Nutritional Strategies for Treatment of Autism Spectrum Disorders”.  Christine's presentation included a brief overview of nutritional modalities in the treatment of autism spectrum disorders. She explored how digestive health, brain function, nutrient deficiencies, food sensitivities, inflammation and environmental factors affect behavior and function.

This presentation represented Parents in Toto’s commitment to bringing the latest developments in autism research.  Dr. Eack’s primary research focus is on the development, implementation, and evaluation of psychosocial treatment methodologies for persons with neurodevelopmental disorders.
