Pounds for Charity
The Pounds for Charity competition was started as a friendly challenge between two guys in an effort to lose weight and grew into an opportunity to fundraise for local non-profits and promote healthy lifestyles.
Through THE CHAMBER of Commerce, Inc. and the Zelienople-Harmony Chamber of Commerce the Pounds for Charity Competition began on May 1st, 2010 between General Rental’s Mike Hall and Costco Wholesale’s Jason Madden. Dr. Gina Agostino of Complete Chiropractics and Dr. Amanda Jordan of Jordan Family Chiropractic are serving as Mike’s and Jason’s personal trainers respectively. Snap Fitness in Zelienople provided free memberships to the contestants to train at their site. Play 2 Wear in Cranberry Township donated kick-off t-shirts. The rules to the challenge are simple. Mike and Jason weighed in on May 1st at Cranberry Municipal Center. They have until August 1st to change their lifestyles and lose the most weight. The individual who has lost the biggest weight percentage during this time wins, and that person's charity will receive a bigger cut of the total funds raised. Mike is sweating out his workouts for Parents in Toto Autism Resource Center and The Miracle League of Southwestern PA while Madden is pressing ahead for The Children's Miracle Network. The winner will receive 60% pf the total contributions.
When Jason and Mike lose, these charities and our communities win by providing valuable services to thousands of families in our area.
